Louisiana Tech University students and visitors passing by Bogard and Keeny Halls will notice several areas of construction underway on campus walkways.

These projects are part of a broader, multi-phase push by the university to increase accessibility. Sidewalks flanking Bogard are being widened, while the concrete steps south of Keeny will be smoothed out to make a more even approach to the south entrance. New paving will lead up to the existing staircase, as well as a new ramp and handrail approaching from the east side.

The projects are being funded by a $478,000 allotment from the state of Louisiana’s 2021 capital outlay budget, earmarked as “Comprehensive ADA (American Disabilities Act) Assessment/Remediation, Planning and Construction.”

Some phases of the accessibility project are expected to continue into mid-September, though the walkways are planned to be ready by the time the fall quarter begins.
