Russ-Town Jazz on a ‘Moonlight Serenade’

The Russ-Town Jazz Band brought both the swing and the funk to the Dixie Center for the Arts this past weekend with a performance that electrified the crowd that filled the historic downtown venue. From the opening bars of 1939’s “Moonlight Serenade” to the final encore of an incredible “Play that Funky Music” from 1975, the ensemble provided an evening filled with classics, modern arrangements of beloved standards, and a taste of pop sensibility that delighted those in attendance. Guest vocalist Adam Jones also added the sounds of Sinatra to the special event benefitting the Dixie. Next on the Dixie’s lineup is Cochren & Co. slated for Saturday at 7 p.m.
