Security upgrades set to begin at Montessori in Ruston

Montessori School of Ruston has received a $50,000 grant from the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security to implement security upgrades at its campus. Renovations will soon begin to add secure perimeter fencing, exterior breakaway doors, updated fire alarm systems, secure interior doors and wall reinforcement, window tinting and an accessibility ramp.

The private school’s efforts to increase security were inspired by the fatal stabbing incident at Louisiana Tech University in 2023.
