State releases more COVID-19 nursing home information
The Louisiana Department of Health is now including the number of nursing home residents and staff members who have recovered from COVID-19 among its weekly updates.
Information in the report posted on Monday shows no increase in COVID-19 deaths at local nursing homes and an apparently steady number of recoveries among infected staff members.
This week’s report — released on the same day Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Louisiana would the next phase of economic reopening on Friday — contains more information than did previous two.
The total case counts are cumulative counts, meaning they include those who have recovered, died or moved out of the faciliy
Here’s a look at the new report:
• Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation has had only one COVID-19 case among its residents so far. The case is apparently still active. Alpine has had no resident deaths from COVID-19. Nine staff members have had the virus; that’s up two cases from the previous reports. Two of those staffers have recovered, the numbers show.
• Princeton Place still has had six total cases of COVID-19 since reporting began at the start of the outbreak in March. So far, one resident has recovered. Three of the six have died. Six staff members have been infected; all have recovered, the report shows.
• Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation has had only one diagnosed case and the person recovered. The facility has had no resident deaths from COVID-19. One staff member had the virus and recovered, the report shows.
Meantime, Tuesday’s LDH update shows Lincoln Parish with an aggregate number of 160 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths attributable to the virus. Those are the same numbers that were posted for the parish on Monday.
Free self testing for the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 continues through Friday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Ruston Sports Complex on U.S. 167 South.
Anyone who wants to be tested for COVID-19 must provide documentation that they are a Louisiana resident, at least 18 years old and have a valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card.
