Three die in two crashes
Two fatal vehicle crashes, one early Monday morning and one Thursday night, resulted in the deaths of three people total, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Monday collision
Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 80 near state Highway 818 around 12:10 a.m. Monday, LSP said in a release.
Malik Hicks, 24, of Ruston, and 55-yearold James Miller, Jr., of Shreveport, were pronounced dead at the scene.
An LSP investigation showed that Hicks was traveling eastbound on Highway 80 in a 2003 Buick LeSabre when, for reasons still undetermined, the LeSabre crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 51-yearold Robyn Miller of Shreveport.
James Miller, Jr. was a passenger in the Traverse.
Hicks was not properly restrained, while James Miller’s restraint status was unconfirmed because of the damage at the scene. Toxicology samples have been submitted for analysis.
Thursday crash
A Thursday evening crash just west of state Highway 563 claimed the life of 54-year-old Edith Anderson, of Dubach.
An LSP press release shows 62-year-old Levi McCullin, Jr., of Rus ton, was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 eastbound on McCullin Road around 8 p.m. Thursday.
Anderson was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer westbound on McCullin Road when, for reasons still under investigation, McCulling crossed the center line and struck Anderson.
Anderson was not wearing a seat belt. She was transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
McCullin, who was also unrestrained, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the LSP, impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Toxicology samples were submitted for analysis.
