Voter registration drives slated to begin this week

Lincoln Parish residents who want to vote in this fall’s election and are not yet registered have a number of upcoming opportunities to sign up starting this week. The parish registrar of voters’ office kicks off a series of voter drives around the parish on Wednesday with the first one set for 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. that day at the Rolling Hills Thrift Store, located at 3487 Hwy. 33, just north of Ruston.

Registrants should bring a photo ID and proof of address.

Residents who are already registered but need to update their registration or want to sign up for the age 65-and-old mail ballot program can also do so at any of the drive locations, Registrar of Voters Sharon Parnell said.

Here’s a list of the drive locations: Wednesday – 8: 30 a. m.- 11: 30 a. m., Rolling Hills Thrift Store, located at 3487 Hwy. 33 Thursday – 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Lincoln Parish Library, 920 North Trenton St.

Aug. 16 – 10 a. m. – noon, Lincoln Parish Library, 920 North Trenton St.

Aug. 18 – 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Rolling Hills Thrift Store Aug. 19 – noon – 2 p.m., Rolling Hills Bookstore, 1103 Farmerville Hwy.

Aug. 23 – 10:30 a.m. – noon, Police Jury Complex, second floor, 307 N. Homer St., Ruston Aug. 25 – 10 a.m. – 11:30 a. m., Dubach Council on Aging. 177 Main St., Dubach Sept. 10 – 9 a.m. – noon, Ruston Farmers Market, 220 East Mississippi Ave.

Sept. 19 – 8 a.m. – 10 a. m., Choudrant Mini-Mart, 3741 Elm St., Choudrant Sept. 20 – 10 a.m. – noon and 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Lincoln Parish Library, 920 North Trenton St.

Sept. 21 – noon – 2 p.m., Rolling Hills Bookstore, 1103 Farmerville Hwy.

Sept. 22 – 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., Police Jury Complex, covered entrance, 307 North Homer St., Ruston Sept. 23 – 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., Pecan Villa Apartments, 611 South Bonner St., Ruston Sept. 24 – 2 p.m. – until, Dubach Chicken Festival Drives are in the works for Simsboro and Grambling, Parnell said.

Voters can also sign up at the registrars’ office, located on the ground floor of the Lincoln Parish Courthouse. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

In-person registration closes Oct. 11, while online registration ends Oct. 18.
