Funeral services for Sidney Joel Colvin Sr., 60, of Ruston, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Rev. Michael McBride will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston.

Joel was born May 8, 1961, in Ruston, and passed away April 25, 2022, in Ruston. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.

He was an avid MotoCross racer as a child and later taught his son the sport.

He worked at Colvin & Co. Realtors of Ruston, Faulk & Foster Zoning in Monroe, Coldwell Bankers Group 1 Realty in Monroe, & Exp Realty, which was his local business.

He was the care giver for his mother, Johnnie Faye Colvin. Joel was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved touring Arkansas on his motorcycle with his wife Carol.

He also loved white water canoeing with his brother and friends. He was a fan of photography and music as well. He was willing to serve people in any capacity with their real estate needs.

Joel was also past member of the Monroe/West Monroe Board of Realtors.

Joel also loved his dogs, Smokey and Blondi and was a consummate peacemaker.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Colvin Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ayers Colvin; son, Sidney Joel Colvin Jr. and granddaughter, Avery Kay Colvin of Ruston; son, Coleman Randolph Herrington of Union, Mississippi; daughter, Elizabeth Herrington Patterson and husband Allie Patterson and two grandsons, Alex and Cole Herrington of Union, Mississippi; mother, Johnnie Faye Colvin of Ruston; sister, Laura Colvin Martzell of Key Biscayne, Florida; brother, Dickie Colvin and wife Dawn Fowler Colvin of Benton, Tennessee; sister, Jamie Lynn Colvin of Colorado; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Hattaway, Scott McCullough, Duke Napper, Ryan Persac, James Ramsuer, and Dee Tatum.
