Grambling Juneteenth celebration begins

The city of Grambling officially kicked off its annual Juneteenth celebration Monday with a balloon launch in front of Grambling’s City Hall. Participating in the opening ceremony were the newly-crowned Juneteenth royalty, from left Miss Jr. Juneteenth, Gabrielle Simmons; Miss Juneteenth, Kesynce Daniel; and Little Miss Juneteenth, Briley Kent. With them is Grambling City Councilwoman and Juneteenth Committee member Cathey Giles. The celebration continues through Sunday. Today’s event is a charity walk set for 6 p.m. at Grambling Park.
