School board election forum today
Five district seats on the Lincoln Parish School Board are up for grabs in this fall’s election, and candidates from each race will be on hand to meet voters and answer questions at a meet-and-greet and forum event tonight at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center. Today Lincoln Parish residents will have the chance to meet and hear from candidates for the Lincoln Parish School Board in the Nov. 8 primary election.
The Ruston Daily Leader is holding a meet-andgreet and forum event featuring candidates from all five contested school board races today at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Constituents in attendance will be able to mingle with candidates from 5:30 to 6 p.m. During this time the Leader will have a booth accepting written questions from the public for candidates.
The questions posed to candidates during the forum will be drawn from these submissions. The forum will take place at 6 p.m. immediately follow the meetand- greet session.
“This event will offer local voters a chance to hear directly from their candidates on the issues that matter most to them,” Publisher Celeste Holley said.
The event is sponsored by Origin Bank.
The five contested districts in this election are District 1, District 3, District 7, District 10 and District 12.
Here are the candidates: District 1 — Willie Washington, Jr., No Party; Danielle Williams, Democrat. Incumbent Susan Wiley did not seek reelection.
District 3 — Paul E. Bean, no party; Clark Canterbury, Republican, incumbent; Gloria Miller, no party. District 7 — Ginny Shadoin Canterbury, Republican; Hunter Smith, Republican, incumbent.
District 10 — Otha Anders, Democrat, incumbent; Juan Hooper, Democrat. District 12 — Debbie Abrahm, Independent, incumbent; Doug Perry, no party. Early voting begins Oct. 25.
