Ruston Christmas parade rescheduled
The Ruston Christmas parade has been rescheduled. Above is a scene from the 2019 parade.
Ruston’s Christmas parade has been rescheduled to Dec. 17, a week later than the original date.
That’s because parade organizers want to avoid any potential conflict with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Non-select Division I state championship football game that could involve Ruston High School.
The Division I Non-select championship game, played in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, is Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.
Ruston is the No. 1 seed in Division I, entering Friday’s home game with Ouachita on a nine-game winning streak.
“Should Ruston High make the state championship game, we want to ensure that students and their families have the opportunity to support the Bearcats in New Orleans and participate in the parade,” Will Dearmon, president/ CEO the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, said Monday.
The chamber organizes the annual parade. The parade will roll through downtown Ruston at 10 a.m.
