Severe storms ushering in cooler weather

There is a slight chance for severe weather in parts of Lincoln Parish today and into this evening. National Weather Service


Lincoln Parish is once again in the path of potentially strong to severe storms.

All forms of bad weather aare possible today, including tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport.

The storms are forecast to begin late this morning and last into the evening. As of Tuesday evening, the highest anticipated risk for the Lincoln Parish area was excessive rain of up to 1.5 inches and a chance of flooding.

“Be prepared for anything,” Kip Franklin, Lincoln Parish Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said Tuesday.

Most of North Louisiana is in the slight risk category, with a 5% to 9% possibility of a tornado within 25 miles of any given point.

The area is more likely to see strong winds that could gust up to 60 mph. A slight chance of hail is also possible, the NWS said.

Today’s storms are ushering in cooler weather. Lows Thursday and Friday are expected to fall into the upper 30s, highs Thursday in the 60s, Friday in the upper 50s and Saturday in the mid-50. Rain returns Saturday.
