Suspect arrested in fatal Greene Lane shooting
Donovan Hart
The Ruston man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a woman on Greene Lane has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Donovan Hart, 18, was taken into custody Friday on a traffic stop in Simsboro, according to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.
LPSO spokesman Sgt. Matt Henderson said Saturday morning Hart’s capture came as a result of assistance from the public.
Hart is charged with killing 38-year-old LaTonia Moore, also of Ruston. Moore was shot inside her home on Greene Lane shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
By Wednesday evening, LPSO had determined Hart was a suspect and asked for the public’s help in locating him.
Henderson said Hart was questioned by detectives and booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, where he is being held on $1 million bond.
“Our detectives will continue to investigate this case, and more information will be released as it becomes available,” Henderson said.
The Greene Road shooting was the second of two back-to-back shootings that occurred Tuesday less than a half-mile from each other.
The first incident occurred at Peachland Mobile Home Park about 20 minutes before the Greene Lane shooting. A man who was sitting in his pickup truck was injured in the mobile home park incident.
A second would-be victim escaped injury, authorities said.
Two male juveniles have been arrested thus far in that Peachland shooting; each has been charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Investigations continue into both shootings, Henderson said. Detectives have not yet said whether the Peachland and Greene Lane incidents are related.
