Ernestine J. Young

Visitation for Ernestine J. Young, age 84, will be Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church Chapel in Ruston.

Officiating the services will be the Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden. Interment will follow at Mineral Springs Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Ernestine Young left her life to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2023.

She graduated from Ruston High School in 1957 and she attended business school in Shreveport, where she met Elra “Buddy” Young, and they married in 1961. She and Buddy made Ruston their home in 1961 and she worked in the insurance business for over thirty years.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Agnes Johnson; son, Joseph Young; husband, “Buddy” Young; and sister, Tommie Jo Crowder.

She leaves behind one son, Phillip Edward and wife Brenda Young of Estes Park, Colorado; and one daughter, Marilyn Young McClinton and husband Howard of Walker, Louisiana. She has five grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.

She loved to travel, spend time at the lake, and rarely missed any of the grandchildren’s sporting events and was so proud of all of them. She was a kind and generous woman that is dearly loved by the whole family and will be greatly missed.

The pallbearers are Ricky Wood, Ronnie Wood, Ron Wood, Zack Bridges, Brian Crowder, and Chris Baker.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Allegiance Hospice and Alpine Nursing Home for their care and support.
