Roberson given time for decision on Tech future

Brooke Stoehr wants to give Anna Larr Roberson plenty of time to contemplate a potential return to the Lady Techsters for a fifth and final season.

At the Bulldog Blitz in Ruston on Monday and Shreveport Tuesday, Stoehr was asked if she has any indication on a decision from Roberson to return to the Techsters for the 2023-24 season.

Stoehr’s answer? Roberson has earned time to decide at her own pace.

“We’re just giving her some time,” Stoehr said. “I think that’s something that’s common across the country is you have players deciding what they’re going to do. She’s given so much of herself to this program and this community, and I know how special she is, and so do people around here. We’ll give her some time and she’s earned that.”

Roberson, a fourth-year junior, averaged 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and had 14 total blocks in 23 games last season for the Techsters after battling two injuries that kept her sidelined in nine games.

During Senior Day against Middle Tennessee on Feb. 25, Roberson was honored alongside Keiunna Walker, Gabbie Green and Lotte Sant – wanting to share the moment with some of her closest teammates, not necessarily using the moment as an indication of her offseason plans, according to a team spokesperson.

The former Cedar Creek star has averaged 11.6 points and 7 rebounds in her Tech career, including an 81% career free throw percentage – third best in program history.

Roberson surpassed 700 career rebounds last season and currently sits No. 34 in program history in career points (1,246).

Stoehr and the Techsters added Evie Goetz, a forward from TCU, in the transfer portal in April as an additional talent to help bolster the team’s frontcourt for the upcoming season.
