The Ruston High volleyball team (25-9) will play its final regular season home game tonight at the Ruston Sports Complex, honoring six seniors who have helped the program remain one of the best in north Louisiana.
Seniors Shelby Freeman, Jade Smith, Hannah Rollins, Cala Wilson and Allie Richardson, along with senior manager Gabby Sterling, will have their Senior Night ceremony in between the junior varsity match that starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity match set for 6 p.m.
Ruston head coach Amanda Cauley said each senior deserves to be honored for leading the Bearcats for multiple seasons and hopes the community comes out in droves.
“We get one more chance to show the community how far we have come as a team this season,” Cauley said. “We would love to have the community show up loud and proud and celebrate our seniors and all they have accomplished over the past four seasons.”
The Bearcats will take on West Ouachita (25-8) after the ceremonies are finished, a matchup that’s been all Ruston this season. The Chiefs have been swept in both matches against the Bearcats this year, losing in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-11) on Sept. 11 before being swept again (25-9, 25-9) on Oct. 14.
Ruston has had time to recover from its competitive weekend at the Isidore Newman Tournament, winning matches against No. 9 ( Div II) Assumption (16-25, 25-19, 15-11) and Barbe (27-25, 25-10) before falling to No. 1 (Div IV) Isidore Newman ( 20-25, 17-25) and No. 16 (Div I) Archbishop Chapelle (13-25, 20-25).
The Bearcats will move from Senior Night to one last slate of games at the Dunham Tournament Friday through Saturday.
