Virginia A Moyers

Virginia A. Moyers, age 94, passed away on January 28, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1929, in Ruston to Jesse Julius and Ruby Alexander Smith. She was a proud resident of Jackson, Mississippi.

Virginia graduated from Louisiana Tech University in December 1952 and married Edward Moyers the same month. She worked for Burton Risinger, Dean of the business school at Tech. Later in life she worked for U.S. House Minority Leader Bob Michel.

She was loving and personable. Her sharp wit kept everyone on their toes.

Virginia loved her church and her Lord. She particularly enjoyed raising her children and creating a lovely home for her family.

Virginia took special joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her beloved sister, Bobbie Jo Byrom of Opelousas.

Virginia is survived by her children, Paul Moyers ( Alison) of Jackson, Mississippi, Nancy Scarlett (Todd) of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ben Scarlett (Megan) of Charlotte, Meredith Moyers of New York, David Scarlett of Carlsbad, California and Alex Moyers of Oxford, Mississippi; great- grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Samantha and Joseph Scarlett, all of Charlotte.
