Ralph ‘Ashley’ Ambrose, Jr.

Ralph “Ashley” Ambrose, Jr., 87, died from complications of COVID and heart-related issues on March 27, 2024, at his home in Choudrant.

Ashley was born on January 8, 1937, in Choudrant, to Ralph Ashley Ambrose, Sr., and Lois Barrett Ambrose. Ashley worked as a carpenter and worked with Western Electric and Southern Natural Gas before becoming a cattle farmer so that he could stop traveling and spend more time with his family.

He also studied the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in January 1970, and he devoted his life to serving his Creator and teaching others about the promises of a better future ahead. Ashley spent many hours serving in the congregation, helping with disaster relief work in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, and helped build Kingdom Halls throughout the state.

Ashley and his wife, Kathy, had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, and their enduring love for each other was evident to anyone who knew him.

Ashley is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Henson Ambrose; sons, Darren Wayne Ambrose (Pamela) and Ashley Steven Ambrose ( Tracy); granddaughters, Zhoe, Taylor, Brittany and Stephanie; sister, Alice Ambrose Bruce, and numerous nieces and nephews. Although Ashley was survived by his sister, Rae Ambrose Hammons of Choudrant, she sadly also passed away four days later on March 31, 2024.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3708 Highway 33, Ruston.

Because so many friends are located throughout the United States and in other countries, the service will also be on Zoom Meeting ID 891 2046 0230 and Password REC2021. For phone- in Zoom, please contact the family for instructions and details.
