Tech holds Taylor Swift-themed Shakespeare Festival

The immortal Bard and a pop culture titan crossed paths at Louisiana Tech University as the College of Liberal Arts hosted its annual Shakespeare Festival Wednesday to celebrate the playwright’s birthday, this time with a Taylor Swift-inspired “Eras Tour” theme.
Bringing two “tortured poets” together, the festival included a “Taylor Swift or Shakespeare?” lyrics guessing competition, a dueling theater demonstration, a keynote speaker, a puppet show and more.
Tech student Mary-Evelyn King, seated far left, was the lucky one and knew Swift’s lyrics all too well, leaving no blank space for other competitors. The event was supported by Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and the School of Literature and Language. It was part of the college’s week-long “Hootenanny” celebration.
