With the 2024 season in the books, the Choudrant and Simsboro softball teams combined to claim most of the first-team 2-B All-District selections from league coaches.

Choudrant junior Zoey Smith was named District 2-B MVP after leading the Lady Aggies with a .455 batting average in district play with 7 RBIs, 3 doubles, and a triple. Smith was joined on the first team by teammates Holly Bennett (1.00 ERA, .300 average) Bailey Grace Weaver (.300), Addison Worley (.285), Kylie Willis (.400), Emma Boggs (.300), and Kelsee Guillotte (.300).

Choudrant head coach Wayne Antley was named Coach of the Year after leading the program to a 19-6 overall record and undefeated district title. Antley heaped praise on his team for the success of their season.

“We’re very lucky to have so many quality softball players and feel honored to have seven on the All-District team,” Antley said. “I think one day these girls will look back on their time in high school and see how lucky they truly were to have so many good players and friends to go through this with them. To me, Coach of the Year isn’t about anything we as coaches do. What your team does is just a reflection of what our players have done since they were probably seven to eight years old. We’re just fortunate to be a part of their high school playing days.”

Simsboro’s Carlei Wheeler, Jacoya Lewis, CiCi Caldwell, and Kaylea Murphy all made the first team as well.

Wheeler hit .400 in district with a 0.389 ERA in three starts. Caldwell hit .600 in district, while Murphy batted .400. Lewis posted a perfect fielding percentage in district.

Kennady King and Callie Harrison were named honorable mention All-District for Simsboro as well.

“I’m so proud of them for everything they have been able to accomplish,” Simsboro head coach Payton Bond said. “For each of them individually, I hope they see what hard work can accomplish. For our program, I hope it gives some of our other players something to strive for and push a little bit harder to try and get next year. I love where are program is at. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the group.”

Downsville’s Piper Bennett (.243) and Abbie Barkley (.275) rounded out the first-team selections.
