Former Ruston High track star BJ Green added another Big 12 title to his mantle on Saturday after winning the Big 12 Outdoor title in the triple jump.

Green, a sophomore at Oklahoma University, won the event with a leap of 16.52 meters (54-2.50), becoming the fourth Sooner in program history to win the men’s indoor and outdoor triple jump titles in the same season.

The former Bearcat won the event on his third jump after putting up 15.88 meters and 15.66 meters.

Austin Davis, OU’s assistant coach for horizontal jumps, said to OU communications, “I’m proud of BJ’s consistency and growth this year. He took control of the competition and kept his composure throughout all of it.”

Earlier in the outdoor season, Green jumped 16.76 meters in the triple jump, putting the All-American first in the nation.
