Dorothy Ross Gray

Funeral services for Dorothy Ross Gray, 68, of Grambling, were held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2586 U. S. 80, Grambling, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor James L. Boatner officiating.

Internment followed at Grambling Memorial Garden under the direction of Kings Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation was held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Zion.

Dorothy Ross Gray was born on February 1, 1956, and passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. She is survived by her daughter, Summer Swafford; stepson, Robert Anthony Gray; and her grandson, Roman Head.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gray, EdD, the former Lincoln Parish Treasurer on the Police Jury from 2004-2015.

Dorothy lived a life of service as an active Mt. Zion Baptist Church member. She served as a Senior Usher, Director of the Youth Ushers, member of the Deaconess Council, and Director of the church’s annual clothing drive establishing a free clothing giveaway in the Grambling community.

After her retirement from Green Clinic, she started a food ministry delivering hot meals to the elderly community members.

Her contribution to the Grambling community will be deeply missed.
