Ruston (3-0) remains the No. 1 team in Class 5A in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association prep poll ahead of a week four matchup at Midland Legacy, Texas.
The Bearcats not only remain at No. 1 but reclaim their unanimous No. 1 ranking in the process with all 12 first-place votes. Ruston still holds the longest active winning streak (17) in the state as well.
The biggest changes in this week’s 5A poll include Acadiana moving from No. 4 to No. 3 after beating Destrehan last week, while ASH jumped from No. 10 to No. 6 with a 3-0 record.
Ruston’s defense held Longview down in a 21-10 win last week, containing the Lobos to just 3-10 between third and fourth down and 233 total yards. The Bearcats also had 3 takeaways on defense with sophomore Jayden Anding collecting two picks and senior Zander Hayes recovering a fumble.
Senior tailback Jordan Hayes had 93 yards and a touchdown run - a 59-yard score - while quarterback Josh Brantley had 127 total yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
