GRAMBLING — With a dominating 53-6 victory over Ringgold for Homecoming Thursday night, the Lincoln Prep Panthers have already doubled last season’s win total.

The Panthers (4-2, 2-1) came out roaring as they looked to double last year’s production after a disappointing 2-7 campaign, and they did just that against a scrappy Ringgold squad. Lincoln Prep wasted no time establishing dominance on both sides of the ball, with Cenario Wilson and D’Tavion Wright leading the charge early.

The tone was set immediately when Wilson and Wright found the endzone on back-toback possessions, propelling Lincoln Prep to an early 13-0 lead. Wright broke free for a 20-yard touchdown, followed by Jaylin Huntley’s electrifying 30-yard sprint to paydirt, extending the lead to 25-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Game over and start the Homecoming celebration.

The second quarter featured the Panthers widenening the gap, with Wilson shining on defense. He jumped a passing lane for a 15-yard pick-six, followed by a successful two-point conversion, making it 33-0.

Ringgold managed to respond with a glimmer of hope, returning a kickoff 90 yards for their only score of the game, but the Panthers weren’t finished yet. Wright struck again with a 13-yard scamper, ballooning the lead to 41-6 by halftime.

Ringgold came out of the locker room desperate to shift the momentum, attempting an onside kick to open the second half, but it failed to change their fortunes. Lincoln Prep quickly capitalized, with Tyler Wimberly punching in a 5-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 47-6.

Wilson continued his standout performance on both sides of the ball. As the clock ticked down in the third quarter, he snagged another interception with just 32 seconds remaining, setting up freshman Shamar Evans to score.

In the fourth quarter, the Panthers’ defense continued to dominate, forcing a fumble that led to another Evans touchdown. Kyle Samuel sealed the victory with a late interception, as Lincoln Prep cruised to a 53-6 triumph in front of their Homecoming crowd.

Head coach Glen Hall credited the team’s success to size, speed, and a much-improved front line.

“I’ve got some young linemen who are big and getting in people’s way, and we’ve got speed,” Hall said. “ Cenario ( Wilson), (Joseph) Spann, Wright, (Jaylin) Huntley, Verlansky (Glosson)— all those guys can make plays.”

Regarding the growth of the offensive line, Hall added, “ I bought a sled. I asked the boss, and he told me we could get one. That’s helped us keep our backs low and our butts down, and it’s really paying off.”

Lincoln Prep looks to build on this momentum when they face Glenbrook (3-1) at home on Thursday, aiming to establish themselves as a contender for a berth in the Division IV Select playoffs.
