Ruston city police continue to investigate a pedestrian fatality that occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at 1005 Cooktown Road several blocks north of the intersection with Edwards Drive.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the Hispanic male who was found lying in the left lane on the northbound side of the road, police Chief Steve Rogers said Thursday.

Rogers said the 41-year-old victim appears to have stepped out into the road, possibly from the southbound side. The preliminary investigation showed he was struck possibly by several vehicles traveling on Cooktown Road.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police have interviewed the two drivers involved in the incident, Rogers said. As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made nor citations issued.
