Two booked in gun incident; more arrests expected
Ruston police have arrested two of as many as four suspects in an Oct. 25 gunfire incident outside a local town-home development.
Trimell Javon Carey, 23, of Grambling, and Eric Jerome Johnson, Jr., 22, of Harvey, were taken into custody Wednesday. More arrests are expected a Ruston Police Department spokesman said Thursday.
Police responded to a shots-fired call at the Bearkat Cove townhomes on Creekmore Court shortly before midnight Oct. 25. They were told one of the suspects shot multiple times at another individual. The apparent intended victim wasn’t hit, police said.
A subsequent investigation linked Carey and Johnson to the incident.
Carey was originally charged with attempted second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and accessory after the factattempted second- degree murder.
But as the investigation continued, the attempted murder and accessory chargesweredropped, withapproval of the district attorney’s office, according to RPD Deputy Chief Chad Hamlin. Johnson is charged with obstruction of justice. Both men were booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, where they’re being held on bond.
