Louisiana Tech kick returner/defensive back Demarcus Griffin-Taylor will try to represent the Bulldogs at the next level after he declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday evening.
“I want to thank God first and foremost for making this dream of mine come true,” Taylor said in a social media post. “I want to thank Louisiana Tech University for giving me an opportunity to be great. My time here will never be forgotten and will cherish all the memories that were experienced at such a one-of-a-kind university. I appreciate all my coaches that gave me this opportunity to make a dream possible.
“I want to thank my teammates for laying it all on the line every day and I wouldn’t have wanted to go to war with anyone else. To family and friends, I appreciate all who played a big role in my life to help me get this opportunity. I will forever be a Bulldog through whatever and proud that I finished a Dawg. With that said, I will be entering the 2025 NFL Draft. Thank you, LA Tech.”
Taylor, a redshirt senior, registered the fourth most tackles (54) on the Bulldogs this year and tied for the most pass breakups (5) on the team as well. He also tied for the team lead with 2 fumble recoveries.
He also put up 500 kick return yards this year, the most by a Tech player since Smoke Harris had 517 yards in 2022. Taylor ranked 12th in the country this fall in combined kick return yards and 14th nationally in average kickoff return yardage (25).
In 20 career games at LA Tech he had 71 tackles, 9 pass breakups, and 2 fumble recoveries, along with 722 kick return yards.
Taylor will try to break the program’s recent cold streak in the draft, with the Bulldogs’ last NFL Draft pick coming in 2021 with Milton Williams going to the Philadelphia Eagles.
