Public schools to close Friday

As winter weather moves in, the Lincoln Parish School District has decided to close schools and conduct classes virtually Friday, Superintendent Ricky Durrett said.

Officials made the most Thursday afternoon following the latest reports from the National Weather Service, as a winter weather advisory that includes Lincoln Parish remains in effect through noon Friday.

Here's how other schools and universities are handling Friday operations:

- Louisiana Tech University: Classes canceled Thursday and Friday. Tech Table open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and Lambright Center open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

- Grambling State University: Classes virtual Thursday and Friday. Digital Library closed until Sunday at 3 p.m.

- Cedar Creek School: Closed Friday.

- Lincoln Preparatory School: Classes virtual Thursday and Friday.
