Local artist encourages sixth-grade art students

Kelley encouraged students to become storytellers through their art.

At I. A. Lewis School, the week before Thanksgiving brought more than preparations for a big holiday break.  Art Teacher Nancy Waldron and her gifted art students spent a day preparing canvases as part of a full-day workshop with local artist Frank Kelley Jr. 

Sponsored by Lincoln ACHIEVE, the workshop provided an opportunity for students to learn about various artistic styles from an artist with whom they share a similar background.  For Waldron, this was an important part of the message.
