Out of ashes: A new Pike house

Investigator identifies cause of blaze that destroyed facility

It is hoped that construction on a new Pi Kappa Alpha house can be completed by May, which will be one year after the original house, pictured above, was destroyed in a fire.

The first steps are being taken to transform a pile of debris at 110 Western St. into a new home for Louisiana Tech University’s Pi Kappa Alpha.

The 6,500 square foot fraternity house, which reportedly served as living quarters for six students, burned down in May.

Danny Milam, president for the fraternity’s housing corporation, said the demolition process began Wednesday, and reconstruction is expected to begin in late fall.
