Malone, Fleming unite in matrimony

Molly Elise Malone and Louis Richard Fleming IV, both of Shreveport, were united in marriage in a 7 p.m. ceremony May 11 at Brown Chapel on the campus of Centenary College in Shreveport. The Rev. Chris Lovell, former Youth Minister of the Bride, of Plano, Texas, officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Riley Malone Jr., of Frisco, Texas, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Gullatt, of Ruston, and the late Mr. John Riley Malone Sr., and the late Ms. Rae Tatum Malone, both of Homer. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Richard Fleming III, of Shreveport, and the grandson of Mr. Marvin Gene Crain, of Shreveport, and the late Mrs. Carole Vinson Crain, and Mrs. Jo Ann Fleming, of Shreveport, and the late Mr. Louis Richard Fleming, Sr.

Floral décor for the ceremony and reception was created by Barbara Bradley Choate and Edna Bradley Smith. Music was provided by Dr. Hollice Watson, organist. Scripture readings during the ceremony were given by Marianne Malone, of Shreveport, cousin of the bride; Alice Johnson, of Baton Rouge, friend of the bride; and Morgan Seale, of Hammond, friend of the bride. Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Silver Lake Ballroom where guests dined and danced to music provided by The Mix Band. The wedding cake was created by Debbie Griffin, of Minden, and the groom chose to serve pies from the couple’s favorite diner, Strawn’s Pie Shop.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a Coco Anais strapless fit and flare gown in champagne satin coved with white lace featuring a custom-designed sweetheart neckline, created by the Blushing Bride Boutique in Historic Downtown Frisco. Her gown was accented with a beaded champagne satin sash, satin-covered buttons along the length of the zipper, and featured intricate beading on both the bodice and chapel-length tulle train.

Meg Malone, of Memphis, Tenn., served her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Scott, of New York, and Jennifer Horn, of Cedar Park, Texas, cousins of the bride; Kelly Fleming, of Shreveport, sister of the groom; Meredyth Malone, of Minneapolis, Minn., sister-in-law of the bride; Katie Camp Comeaux and Kendall Coleman, both of Shreveport, friends of the bride; and Kendall Hodges, of Nashville, Tenn., and Parker Patterson, of Memphis, Tenn., childhood friends of the bride. The bridesmaids wore strapless, cobalt blue chiffon dresses. Members of the house party were all college friends of the bride: Brittany Milligan, of Charleston, S.C.; Cassie Alsfield, of Washington, D.C.; Christina Cresson, of New Orleans; and Jessica Simoneaux, of Baton Rouge.

Dean Mijalis, of Shreveport, served as Beau’s best man. Groomsmen were Matt Malone, of Minneapolis, brother of the bride; Shea Dixon, of Baton Rouge, college friend of the groom; Alan Jeter, of New Orleans; Robert Jeter, of Shreveport; Andrew Mijalis, of Shreveport; Jared Mayfield, of Shreveport; Cameron Lennard, of Shreveport; and Taylor Gosslee, of Shreveport, all childhood friends of the groom. Ushers included Jonathan Kastanos, of Dallas, Texas, college friend of the groom; and David Nelson and Stephen Porter, of Shreveport, as well as Ryan Smelley, of New Orleans, childhood friends of the groom.

Molly attended Briarcrest Christian High School in Memphis, Tenn., and graduated from Frisco High School in Frisco, Texas, before earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She is employed as a Social Worker at Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center in Shreveport.

Beau graduated from Captain Shreve High School and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He currently works in sales for Glazer’s Distributing Company in Shreveport, and serves as a volunteer baseball coach for Captain Shreve.

Following a honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Molly and Beau will make their home in Shreveport.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on 7 p.m. May 10 at the North Market Venue, a beautifully vintage-decorated warehouse owned by Ms. Annette Rich, which is located at 403 North Market, in Shreveport. David Alvis of Silver Star Catering provided the food.

Prior to the wedding, several parties were held to honor Molly and Beau:

A “His and Hers” miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Mijalis in Southern Trace in Shreveport on March 2. Co-hosting the event were Mr. and Mrs. David Andre, Ms. Betty Sue Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Joey Earnest, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hebert, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jeter, Dr. and Mrs. Bill Overdyke, Mr. and Mrs. George Plaxco, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Rivers, Ms. Charlotte Watson, Mr. Hugh Knotts and Ms. Amy Nichols.
Molly’s co-workers at the Cancer Treatment Center of Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport honored her with a kitchen shower on April 11. Each guest brought a favorite recipe and the ingredients and items needed to help stock the kitchen.

A family shower joining the Gullatt, Malone and Tatum families was held on April 15, at Noel Methodist Church in Shreveport. Hosting the event were Mrs. Pam Gullatt Scott and Mrs. Betsy Malone, aunts of the bride; and Miss Marianne Malone, Mrs. Jennifer Scott Horn and Miss Amy Scott, cousins of the bride. Many members of the Gullatt and Tatum families travelled from across North Louisiana to celebrate the future bride.

A poolside cocktail party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gentry, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vinson, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hicks on May 9 at the Gentry Home in Shreveport.

A bridesmaid’s luncheon was given to honor Molly and her bridesmaids at 11 a.m. May 10 at the home of Mrs. Katie Camp Comeaux in Ellerbe Road Estates in Shreveport. Also hosting the event were Ms. Kendall Coleman, Ms. Pam Camp, and Mrs. Sondra Coleman.
