Waters, Smith to wed in Baton Rouge

Roy Stephen and Marlen May Waters, of Ruston are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Leah Ruth Waters to Matthew Benjamin Smith, of Baton Rouge.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late William Leonard and Elaine Arendale May, of Homer and the late T.H. “Muddy” and Ruth Lupo Waters, of Hammond.

Leah is a 2007 graduate of Ruston High School and graduated with honors from Louisiana State University in 2011. Presently, she is attending graduate school at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, studying Occupational Therapy. She is the community services chairman for the Student Occupational Therapy Association and also serves as the occupational therapy alumni ambassador.

Matt is the son of Walter Loclon III and Carol Lambremont Smith of Baton Rouge and is the grandson of Dr. Edward N. Lambremont, of Fairhope, Ala., and the late Jane Annis Lambremont and Adeline Landry Smith and the late Walter L. Smith Jr. of Baton Rouge.

Matt graduated in 2003 from Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge. He attended Louisiana State University in Eunice and graduated in 2008 from Louisiana College in Pineville and was a member of the baseball team at both schools. He is presently employed as a teacher and coach at Dunham School in Baton Rouge.

The couple plan to wed in a six p.m. ceremony December 21 at First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge.
