About three weeks before Tuesday’s election, the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and Louisiana Tech’s Student Government Association held a mayoral forum the organizations hoped would clearly differentiate the two candidates.

It didn’t. Both Bill Elmore and Ronny Walker continued to talk about the same things: economic development, stronger ties with education, upgraded recreational facilities and eliminating red tape that each has said is impeding business development.
