On paper, there will be a battle among four candidates for the starting quarterback job at Louisiana Tech University this fall.

But for all intents and circumstances, that job is Jeff Driskel’s to lose.

He is, quote-unquote, the “designated starter” until something truly bizarre happens.
Something such as Wyly Tower being converted to dorm space, Starbucks having a slow day with its drive-thru window and zero traffic backed up on the Cooktown Road Bridge at rush hours.
