Leader photo by T. SCOTT BOATRIGHT Major roads in the area thawed off somewhat this morning but officials are still urging residents to stay off the streets unless absolutely necessary until the ice clears off.

It’s not over yet. Winter Storm Quantam may be moving eastward, but there’s another one coming that could dump several more inches of sleet and snow along the I-20 corridor tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning beginning at midnight and continuing until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The situation has local officials in a wait-and-see mode today as they deal with icy roads left in Quantam’s wake.
