The Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans was the setting for the Wedding Ceremony which joined Miss Rebecca Lynn Evans and Mr. Matthew Colt Graham in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, April 25. Reverend Karl Jay Daigle was the celebrant of the 6:30 in the evening ceremony. Music was provided by the Four Seasons Quartet, organist Mr. Aaron Wilson and cantor and vocalist Mrs. Linda Dupuy. Scripture readings were delivered by Sally Rodrigue Marshall and Susan Stephens Hines. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Southern Trace Country Club. The guests were greeted by candlelight under the draped arch entrance of the country club. Lovely spring greenery accented with white and cream roses covered the interior columns and exterior staircase leading guests to the outdoor tent. Beautiful arrangements of super white hydrangeas, fragrant peonies, cascading phalaenopsis orchids and many variations of roses adorned the main tables. Julia Sippel lovingly created the floral designs for the entire evening. Musical entertainment was provided by the Crescent City Soul Band of New Orleans and Aly B’s Bakery created the wedding cakes. Donna Brian served as the wedding coordinator.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith John Evans of Shreveport. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray P. Oden, Jr. of Shreveport and Mrs. Earl F. Evans and the late Earl F. Evans of Houston, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Randolph Graham of Ruston, Louisiana. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald R. Alford and the late Mr. Thomas J. Stephens, all of Ruston.

Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride chose an elegant gown of ivory Alencon lace designed by Ines Di Santo. The fit to flair silhouette featured a blush silk taffeta underlay and fashioned a beautiful bateau neckline with sleeves that delicately fell off her shoulder. Covered buttons adorned the low v-back of her gown dramatically accenting her full fluted skirt. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a veil of sheer illusion, highlighted with French lace from her mother’s wedding veil, which framed her face and fell gracefully beyond the chapel length train of her gown. The bride’s bouquet consisting of beautiful full stems of pure white phalaenopsis and fragrant white peonies blended with spring greenery was wrapped in satin from her grandmother, Dorothy “Dodie” Long Oden’s 1950 wedding gown. Also wrapped around the bouquet were tiny pictures of her beloved late grandparents. The bride also wore on her wrist a bracelet given to her by her grandmother Maryanne “Mae” Matula Evans which she wore at her 1937 First Communion.

Anne Oden Thomas of Shreveport, the bride’s cousin, served as Matron of Honor and Emily Ann Evans of Shreveport, the bride’s sister, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Long Oden and Leigh Grann Oden, cousins of the bride, Catherine Claire Wicker and Victoria Noel Rome, all of Shreveport; Meredith Marsh Evans, sister in law of the bride, of Birmingham, Alabama; Lindsey Graham Avinger, sister of the groom, of McKinney, Texas; Alexandra Nicole Kittrell of Dallas, Texas; Christina Louise Gautier of Mobile, Alabama; Elizabeth Anne Demopulos of Houston, Texas; and Rebecca Katheryn Nichols of Portland, Oregon. Honored Attendants were Alice Brevard Knight, cousin of the bride, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Emily D’Aquin Martinec, Jeanne Birnie Dupuy and Kristin Elizabeth Petry, all of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Whitney Morvant Rust of Thibodaux, Louisiana.

William Thomas Graham and Randolph Gantt Graham, brothers of the groom, both of Ruston, Louisiana, served as best men. Groomsmen were Timothy David Shaw, Bradley Lynn Walker and William Andrew McIntyre, all of Ruston, Louisiana; Patrick Spencer Avenger, brother in law of the groom, of McKinney, Texas; Aaron Daniel Lipps of Madisonville, Louisiana; Aaron Thomas Capps of Dallas, Texas; Matthew Karl Kubik of Nacogdoches, Texas; Gregory Scott Thompson of Midland, Texas; James Andrew Robinson of Monroe, Louisiana; and John Michael Evans, brother of the bride, of Birmingham, Alabama. Ushers included Bryan DeNelle Overdyke and Miles Frederick Thomas of Shreveport; Anthony Nicholas Rome, III, of Nashville, Tennessee; Christopher Vonn Tilley of Jackson, Mississippi; David Lewis Billingsley, III of Jena, Louisiana; and Gavin Ray Gawlik, cousin of the bride, of Houston, Texas. The flower girl was Abigail Lynn Tietze, cousin of the bride, of Houston, Texas.
