Students’ art shown in Governor’s Mansion

Grace Lagattuta and Zoila “Elizabel” Martinez figured only their teacher and fellow students at Ruston Junior High School would see the drawings they did for an art class project.

Grace and Elizabel were wrong. Their drawings are among the winning entries in the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries annual environmental awareness art contest, and are on display this month in the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge.

“I was surprised. I really didn’t know how to react. I was like, ‘Wow, it made it to the Governor’s Mansion,’” Elizabel, 15, said.
