The word thankful can mean different things to different people. When one contemplates the simple two-syllable word, many images come to mind. But, when we at the Ruston Daily Leader think about being thankful, one image always pushes its ways to the front, that of our readers — our family.

Last week, we came together as a family to celebrate Thanksgiving and take a few moments to remember that it is because of readers like you that we are able to continue sharing news with our community.

Because you allow us to share your stories, and then graciously take the time to read ours, we are thankful.

For each click of the newspaper rack, and each thump of the paper landing in your driveway, we are thankful.

With each phone call thanking us for our stories and ads, we are thankful.

Without the more than 10,000 daily readers, we would not be able to provide this community with the information they need to help Lincoln Parish grow.

Our goal is not to sell papers, but do whatever we can to take care of the community that has been so loyal to us since our establishment in 1894.

As residents have seen hardship through natural disasters, and joy with each new state championship victory, we are right there beside you, delivering the stories that we hope will help preserve the history of our community — our family.

So, we would like to officially thank you for your love and support over the years, and humbly ask that you continue to pick up our paper, read our bylines, check out our ads and give us your feedback.

Every time a reader calls or drops by to thank us for our stories, we hope that they remember how thankful we are to them for their encouraging words and heartfelt support for this local paper.

We are who we are because of the family that surrounds us, and for all of the members of this ever-growing family, we are thankful.

We hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
