Tech students go to prison seminar


On Oct. 7, Louisiana Tech journalism students participated in the first-ever prison journalism seminar at Angola.

Louisiana’s criminal justice system, like its institutions of higher learning, is staring at a severe budget crisis. Yet, unlike education, it can’t simply let people go in a pinch.

Louisiana needs journalists who are advocates for fixing its social and economic ills, according to Burl Cain, warden of Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, who addressed a group of Tech journalism students.
