A Grambling man said to have been a local drug kingpin is in a maximum-security state corrections facility after being sentenced to five years at hard labor on Tuesday.

Willie James “Big Hip” Scott’s sentencing closes what Grambling Police Chief Tommy Clark said was approximately 12 years of investigations and undercover work.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Clark said. “All of our drug operations lead tentacles back to him.”

Clark said Scott’s removal from the Grambling community ends more than 30 years of illegal activity surrounding his residence.
