Bugle sounds note of patriotism

Boy Scout Troop 45 has a new electronic ceremonial bugle, thanks to a generous member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Parnell-Burt Post #3615.

But the bugle, presented on Thursday to Scout Master Clint Williams, is more than just an instrument. It’s a symbol of patriotism, of dedication, of respect and of service.

The bugle was given in memory of the late VFW Commander and BSA Troop 59 Assistant Scout Leader Bruce Spaulding. Spaulding was a retired U.S. Marine Corps first sergeant, having served 20 years before retiring in 1978.
