Police: Alleged Wal-Mart abduction a hoax

Ruston police have determined no attempted child abduction or battery occurred at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter earlier this month, despite claims by the alleged victim’s mother otherwise.

“The interaction caught on Wal-Mart video surveillance clearly refutes the reporting party’s claim that a man inappropriately touched or tried to forcibly abduct a child,” RPD Deputy Chief Clint Williams said this morning.

Williams said the reported victim’s family has also stopped cooperating with the police investigation.
