Fiscal cliff looms over legislative session


Odds are the Louisiana Legislature will end the just started regular session without passing a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1, Rep. Rob Shadoin said Monday.

If that happens, the state could see a replay of 2017, when lawmakers reached an impasse, adjourned, then came back half an hour later in a special session to tackle the budget. Only this time, Gov. John Bel Edwards has already prepared for the possibility.
