Roland Gray “Bodick” Hicks

Services for Roland Gray “Bodick” Hicks, age 99, of Farmerville, LA, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at Wards Chapel Church of Christ, of which he was a longtime member.

Visitation was held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Terry Cole officiated with burial following in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.

As a young man, Hicks participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Farmerville for 40 years. He was married to Christine Scarborough Hicks for 69 years and was preceded in death by her. Others in his family who preceded him in death include his parents Otis and Emma, brothers J.D. and Rabun Lee, sisters Ila Mae Hampton and Lunnie Anderson, and granddaughter Tina Jordan Crusenberry.

Roland is survived by children Truman and wife Delores of Marion, LA, Jeanette Jordan and husband Raymond of Calhoun, LA, and Connie Yarema and husband, Allan of Abilene, TX; brothers Jessie J. and Zane of Farmerville, LA; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchilden; and 14 great-greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bobby Duty, Lance Yarema, Sonny Hicks, Leonard “Skeeter” Hicks,TerryHicksand Billy Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers were men of the Wards Chapel Church of Christ.
