Compton, Hilton wed at First Baptist Church

Emily Compton, of Ruston, and Braden Thomas Hilton, of Ruston, were united in holy matrimony at 4 p.m. May 5 at First Baptist Church in Ruston.

The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Josh Sanderson.

The bride is the daughter of Linnea Allen, of Ruston, and John Compton, of Shreveport. She is the granddaughter of William Compton, of Shreveport, and the late Patsy Compton; and Karen McDonald, of Shreveport, and Rick Fayard, of Bossier City.

The groom is the son of David and Susan Hilton, of Ruston; and the grandson of Patsy Hilton, of Ruston, and the late Thomas Hayward Hilton; and the late Albert and Beulah Douget.

Given by her father, the bride wore an off-the-shoulder white full lace fitted gown with a waist length veil with a thick lace trim.

She carried a bouquet of daisies, blue thistles with greenery accents.

Maid of Honor was Mary Hollis Graham, of Ruston.

Matron of Honor was Mackenzie Hotzclaw Duck, of Demoplis, Alabama.

Bridesmaids include Kellie Duke, of Ruston; Kathryn Jordan, of McKinney, Texas; Brooke Lolley, of Ruston; Alex Neal, of Alexandria; and Rachel Smith, of Ruston.

They wore full-length dusty blue gowns off-the-shoulder with spaghetti straps. They carried bouquets of daisies, blue thistles and greenery.

Best Men were Ethan Hilton, brother of the groom, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Garrison Hilton, of Woodworth, also the groom’s brother.

Groomsmen were Jacob Duke, of Ruston; Wesley Cox, of Ruston; Bobby James, of Louisville, Kentucky; Shep James, of Ruston; and Jon White, of Ruston.

The flower girl was Evangeline Hilton, niece of the groom, of Woodworth; and ring bearer was Hunter Reeder, of Ruston.

Music was provided by Emily Canerday, Will Dinnat and Walker Neal.

A reception was held at Creekwood Gardens.

Before the ceremony, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by David and Susan Hilton at the Historic Fire Station in Ruston with catering by Uptown Downtown.

The couple was honored with several showers.

A miscellaneous kitchen shower was held Feb. 10 at the home of Judy and Ronnie Graham, hosted by the bridesmaids.

On March 24, a miscellaneous brunch was hosted at the home of Linda Tuten, hosted by Linda Tuten, Michelle Allen-Cassel, Laurie Colvin and Regina McNeill.

A bridal shower was held April 8 at The Depot of First Baptist Ruston, and was hosted by Marty Alsup, Michelle Axton, Kay Bradford, Kelli Colvin, Linda Corley, Pam Flowers, Leslie Harvey, Debbie Hauser, Tina Jinks, Brenda Martin, Melinda McMahone, Emily Nunn, J’Nell Sanderson, Kay Sutton, Heather Yates and Melinda Yocum.

On April 21, a couples shower was held at the home of Lesley and Bob James, and was hosted by Margaret and Jim Davison; Juanita and Michael Duke; Kim and Clint Graham; Sharon and Lee Jay Haddox; Lesley and Bob James; Memrie and Shannon Lolley; Tammie and Jim Oakes; Heather and Chad Reeder; and Kay and Russell White.

After a honeymoon in Key West, Florida, the couple will reside in Ruston.
