Graveside services were held for Michael J. Corie, age 74, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at Bear Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Davidson officiating.

Visitation was held Saturday, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia, LA.

Michael was born July 27, 1945, in Anacoco, LA, to Finas and Lois Strozier Corie. He entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, in Shreveport, LA.

Michael retired from the production side of the oilfield. He was married to the love of his life, Joy Sutton Corie, and loved to spend time with his children and their families. Michael was a proud member of the NRA, but most of all, he was a good Christian man who loved sharing the gospel with others. He loved to go hunting with his son Nathan, and enjoyed drinking coffee every morning with his friends at N&J Oilfield Supplies.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Finas and Lois Corie, and by infant brother John Marvin Corie.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Joy Sutton Corie; sons Kevin Corie and wife Angel and Nathan Corie; grandchildren Morgan Kumler and husband Brady and Lindsey Corie; siblings Harley Corie and wife Pat, Betty Wilson and husband Ardis, and Martin Corie and wife Sarah; brother in law Bubba Sutton and wife Charlotte; sister in law Sue Loe; mother in law Margaret Ussery; and by numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Louisiana Teen Challenge, PO Box 73681, Metairie, LA 70033.
