Ruston rallies to top Ouachita

MONROE — The Ruston High School Bearcats saved their best for last Friday night in a 23-20 District 2-5A win over Ouachita Parish at the Lion’s Den.

With time winding down, RHS senior quarterback Eric Outley took a third down snap, dropped back in the pocket and evaded the ensuing pass rush before sprinting up the middle to score an emphatic 25-yard, game-sealing touchdown run with 11 seconds left in a fourth quarter that included three lead changes.

The seven-play, 79-yard drive gave Ruston the win in a game in which Ouachita had seemingly controlled on both fronts until late.
