Millicent Joy Long

Mrs. Millicent Joy Long, age 89 of Quitman, went to be with the Lord April 30, 2020. She did not have many hobbies to speak of as she devoted her life’s work to her loving family and to her career. She was an office manager for over 30 years for North East Louisiana Wholesale Oil and Gas. Those that worked with her knew and admired her work ethic and she proudly led by example. She enjoyed time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband, Allen Davis Long; son, Dr. Cecile Allen Long (Debora); grandchildren, Heather Ann Standifer, Jacob Michael Long, Lucy Allen Long; great Grandchildren, Levi, Darcy, Rowan; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murdic Cecile and Annie (Mangum) Cole; siblings, Dwight Cole, Marie Benard. A graveside service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, near Quitman, at with the Reverends Charles Penuell and Joey Anderson officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
