Local nonprofit works to combat human trafficking


When one thinks of human trafficking, he most likely imagines a heinous crime that only occurs in a far-away country. That image is partially correct. The crime is cruel; however, it is not limited by geography — it can happen anywhere, including Louisiana.

The latest report from Louisiana’s Department of Children and Family Services shows a 52 percent increase in both adult and juvenile trafficking victims with the total rising from 442 in 2016 to 681 in 2017.
