My love and respect for Eddie Robinson goes back to being a child of parents from Lincoln and Jackson parishes and growing up in New Orleans.

Part of my weekend routine during football season would be watching the Grambling Football Highlights Show followed by the Notre Dame Football Highlights Show in the early 1970s.

Yes, I was a white Baptist boy who still had a love for Grambling and Notre Dame football. That was part of the magic of growing up in a predominately Catholic city like New Orleans.
