The Louisiana Tech University family came out in mass to help support the Tech athletics department’s “Load Up for Lake Charles: Relief for Hurricane Laura” initiative. A steady stream of vehicles came through the west side of the Joe Aillet Stadium parking lot Tuesday afternoon to help fill a truck with donations in support of those impacted by Hurricane Laura at McNeese State University and its surrounding communities.

Ruston locals donated non-perishable food, batteries, pet food, and baby supplies as well as bottled water, sports drinks, cleaning supplies, and personal care items. Louisiana Tech athletics staff members and select student-athletes were on hand to help facilitate the donation process while following social distancing measures.

The loaded truck headed to Lake Charles on Wednesday with the help of Gentry Trucking, which offered support with the donation drive.
